History

EUROPE Ltd, founded in 1997, is an independent private advisory company working internationally. To start with, it provided corporate finance and investment advisory services, including valuation of assets and projects for the private sector. EUROPE was full member of the Hungarian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association in 2002-2012 , the partner organisation of the European Venture Capital Association.

From 2004, the valuation shifted to public sector evaluation, by retaining the strong focus on financial aspects and sustainability.  We believe that investment from public funds has to reach the same set of requirements as private investment. Projects need to be relevant, have value for money, have plans that are feasible, and carry out a sustainable operation both on human and financial side. In short, it has to provide the same impact. (In this sense, a project financed by private and public funds cannot have different investment criteria.)

At the end of 2003, EUROPE Ltd became the Independent evaluator of the EU PHARE and later of the Transition Facility programmes.  Both were financed by EC DG Enlargement (now EC DG NEAR) .  We wrote 25 sector evaluations in English, and completed them with special studies.  We supported the ministries and central budgetary institutions to prepare for the acquis communautaire (all having blocking and non-blocking gaps before and after Hungary’s accession to the EU).
